With initiatives focused on renewable energy, environmental preservation and responsible tourism, the country has committed to protecting its natural resources and ensuring a greener future for future generations.
Sustainable Energy: Towards a 100% Green Island
Aruba has an ambitious goal of becoming a 100% sustainable island. Currently, around 40% of the island’s electricity comes from renewable sources, such as solar and wind power. The iconic Vader Piet wind farm, located on the east coast, generates a large portion of the island’s energy consumption, reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Community and Environmental Education
Sustainability in Aruba is not just a government project, but a collective effort involving residents and visitors. Schools, companies and NGOs carry out environmental education campaigns, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle for the entire community.
